Steelhead Restoration - Funding Opportunities

1. Grant Funding Deadline Calendar. This F.I.S.H. Team document is a summary of funding opportunities. Current as of March 2007.

2. Department of Fish and Game supports the restoration of anadromous fish populations throughout California through their Fisheries Restoration Grant Program. Eligible projects range from education to barrier removal. Consult with DFG staff for eligibility of specific projects. The grant period occurs in the spring of every year .

3. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service supports the restoration of wildlife habitats that will provide the greatest benefits for Federal trust species such as migratory birds, anadromous and catadromous (migratory) fish, and species listed as threatened or endangered on a Federal level. Successful applicants for the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program will receive technical and/or financial assistance for implementing on-the-ground restoration projects on privately owned lands. 4. The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation is requesting proposals for the Five-Star Restoration Matching Grants Program. The purpose of this grant program provide modest financial assistance on a competitive basis to support community-based wetland, riparian, and coastal habitat restoration projects that build diverse partnerships and foster local natural resource stewardship through education, outreach and training activities.

5. The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation is requesting proposals for the Native Plants Conservation Initiative. This program supports on-the-ground conservation projects that protect, enhance, and/or restore native plant communities on public and private lands. Projects typically fall into one of three categories and may contain elements of each: protection and restoration, information and education, and inventory and assessment.
